Once a Week
Whether We Need to or Not!

It was another busy week in Smoky Mountain real estate for our team with closings, a few new listings, and a number of properties placed under contract. With this level of activity in our office one might think that the overall real estate market in our Gatlinburg area has picked up but I'm not so sure of that. If fact, it still seems that most East Tennessee agencies haven't had very much to celebrate as the holiday season begins.

During the period December 1st-15th 2007 there were 70 residential sales reported compared to only 34 that have been posted during the same time frame this year by the roughly 500 actively licensed members of our Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors. This confirms that we as a community are once again at only about 50% of the already slow pace of 2007. While the numbers could change for the better during the remainder of the month of December I'm not holding my breath.

With this shortage of sales for the real estate agents in our area it is truly remarkable that I was able to record 4 sales during the first half of December. With a couple more sales since the 15th and several more pending (that hopefully will close by year's end) you can see that we have certainly been blessed to be able to maintain our business at this level. Of course, any percentage of zero is still zero so hopefully the tide will rise and all area agents will have more transactions in the coming year. If you would like to talk with us about how you can benefit from the success we have enjoyed please don't hesitate to email or call me at 865-436-0444.
