2012 Ends With a Whimper But a Very Good Year Nonetheless

Although the last couple of months of 2012 in our Smoky Mountain real estate market have been a bit of a disappointment when compared with the very strong results from late 2011, the full year is in fact sharply above last year. In fact, 2012 has been the best year we have seen here in the Gatlinburg real estate market since 2007, when our Sevier County and surrounding area market was still screaming hot. The members of the Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors reported through our MLS that 2012 is already 22% ahead of last year, and the final numbers will no doubt be better when all firms have reported their sales. Of course, there are always pockets of better and worse performance, but here is the summary for December (and therefore for all of 2012):
