July Wasn't THAT Bad!

July's preliminary residential real estate sales results are in as reported by the Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors and it wasn't the worst month of the year by a long shot. In fact, while July probably won't catch up with May's (best of the year so far) sales figure it is already the second best month of 2009 and several more July sales are sure to be reported over the next week or so. Here are the preliminary numbers for residential unit sales in our market:If you'd like a more legible (and current) copy of this document you can get it here.

Sadly, there are still around 500 (supposedly active) members of our local board of Realtors here in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area and as a group they have combined for only a little over 100 sales per month total so far in 2009. This means that the typical real estate agent here in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains has had well UNDER TWO sales this entire year. With 46 closed residential sales so far this year and 12 more pending I am reminded about how truly blessed I am.
