September Looks Horrible BUT Initially, So Did August!

September's residential real estate sales for our Smoky Mountain area are in and so far they don't look good. As always however, the final number of Gatlinburg area real estate sales reported will eventually be much higher. In fact, initially last month's tally seemed like it would fall FAR short of last year's total. A month later the total for August 2014 is within just a few ticks from what it was in 2013 and that was a very good month indeed (the best in all of 2013). While we always like it when we are ahead of the previous year's total, this isn't as bad as it looks. That's a good thing, because actually the preliminary number is as low a total as we have had all year. Don't fret however fans, the total will certainly come up a good bit, even though I seriously doubt that we will come anywhere close to where we were last year...
For the full year to date, we aren't far at all behind the first 9 months of last year, and that is without allowing all of September's sales to be reported. When they are, I suspect we will once again be about even with last year's total, which was the best since 2007. I personally have two dozen pending sales right now, so maybe October will be a great month for most of the members of our Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors. I sure hope so!
