We tend to focus very tightly on Smoky Mountain real estate (that is what we do for a living!) but I just received the April, 2015 Gross Receipts Report from the City of Gatlinburg for all categories of businesses here and the numbers are great! In particular, the lodging totals are sharply up and I can't help but wonder if that isn't at least to some degree because of the successful launch of the Rocky Top Sports Complex . We are also seeing increases in nearly every other category of the report - Go Gatlinburg!!!

An article published earlier this week in our Smoky Mountain area's The Mountain Press strongly confirmed what we have known for several months: Gatlinburg's new Rocky Top Sports World Complex (RTSC) is absolutely blowing away even the most enthusiastic performances projections that were made prior to its opening in July of 2014. Furthermore, the positive impact of the RTSC to our Gatlinburg area economy is also even greater than anyone's forecast. More visiting guests creates more revenue for the lodging, food service, and entertainment businesses and all of the businesses that support those sectors of our local economy, including the Gatlinburg real estate sector. An article published earlier this week in our Smoky Mountain area's The Mountain Press strongly confirmed what we have known for several months: Gatlinburg's new Rocky Top Sports World Complex (RTSC) is absolutely blowing away even the most enthusiastic performances projections that were made prior to its opening in July of 2014. Furthermore, the positive impact of the RTSC to our Gatlinburg area economy is also even greater than anyone's forecast. For some time now we have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Rocky Top Sports World venue and our wait is over. While the ribbon cutting won't be until September 9th, the center will be hosting 95 soccer teams this weekend with over a thousand athletes who began pulling into the parking lot before 6AM this morning. Although the crowds would possibly make a better shot, I did get this aerial photo that I like yesterday morning: With Rocky Top (Mt. LeConte) and a nice view of the National Park in the background, you can get an idea of just how big this new development is for the city of Gatlinburg and for Sevier County as a whole. If I had the time, I would love to get a picture of the center today with the parking lots full. For now, however, this will have to suffice as I have appointments and a LOT of emails to complete today.
