Working in the real estate industry over the last few decades, we tend to fall into a rhythm, and lose sight of the stories behind those transactions. Some folks are gaining new homes, some are losing homes. Some people are moving on in a new adventure in their lives, others find themselves picking up the pieces of a life that was.  We get caught up in the process of closing the transaction and moving forward with the next task in front of us. God has a subtle way of bringing situations before us, and using our talents to fulfill his miracles in ways we sometimes fail to see on our own. Now that we are two weeks into a new year and new decade, it is the perfect time to update you on some fresh statistics. The end of the year always finds us in a reflective mood. We begin taking account of how the last 12 months stack up, what goals did we reach, what mountains are left to climb. The decade we just exited, 2009-2019, was a block of time that marked significant shifts for everyone's horizon. We began the decade with an economic crash of seismic proportions. With real estate being our chosen craft, we found ourselves adapting to the twists and turns along with everyone else. This crisis touched so many people all over the globe, and not just property owners. The banking industry, real estate industry, investment industry, everywhere you looked you could find collateral damage. It was certainly a bitter pill to swallow at the time, but our nation recovered. Today we have a very healthy and vibrant real estate market on a definite upswing. 2012 was the year things bega...

While we try daily to be diligent in our service to God as we work in the East Tennessee real estate industry, and ask forgiveness for our many flaws, Christmas always reminds us of the blessings bestowed on us as God's children, and the promised salvation granted us by his son Jesus. Even though we endure in faith of a greater ever after, little miracles remind us of his hand in our lives every day. One such blessing happened just a little over a week ago. While hustling about making last minute arrangements for a planned flight to visit family, I had the misfortune of misplacing my wallet. Imagine the sheer terror that ripped through me, only hours away from attempting to board a much anticipated plane ride to see loved ones. Gone at that moment was my identification, credit cards, spending money for the trip. This was going to be a massive disruption not only to our travel plans, but also our day to day lives. Banking and bill payment arrangements via credit cards, subscription,...

After an extended hiatus from tending to this blog, we are happy to return to the friendly confines of Cyberspace to share with you our journey through the many real estate adventures in the Smoky Mountains. While we were away, our attention has been preoccupied with a very good cause. When someone new comes into your life, they become a pleasant distraction from normal routines. For us, that wonderful distraction is Blue, the Wonder Dog, our mascot, greeter in training. To bring you up to speed, over the past year, our firm has expanded into rehabbing diamonds in the rough around the area, in order to supply quality inventory back into our very short supplied local housing market. The housing shortages in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville have created a serious need for affordable housing in the Smoky Mountains. As possibly the world's worst blogger, I just noticed that I had failed to give an update for June's Tennessee Smoky Mountain residential real estate sales. Seeing as today is August 1st, it is high time for a market update!! While June's market performance by the members of the Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors was very strong, July was a very tough comparison. In fact, July 2014 was the single best month going all the way back to the go-go days of 2007. Although the final number for July 2015's home sales will most certainly be upwardly revised, there's simply no way we can scale that mountain: On a more positive note however, local title company employees have told me that they are unbelievably busy, which means that August & September's reports should provide better comparisons to the corresponding months in the very robust year of 2014. Here's to better!!!

As possibly the world's worst blogger, I just noticed that I had failed to give an update for June's Tennessee Smoky Mountain residential real estate sales. Seeing as today is August 1st, it is high time for a market update!! While June's market performance by the members of the Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors was very strong, July was a very tough comparison. In fact, July 2014 was the single best month going all the way back to the go-go days of 2007. Although the final number for July 2015's home sales will most certainly be upwardly revised, there's simply no way we can scale that mountain: On a more positive note however, local title company employees have told me that they are unbelievably busy, which means that August & September's reports should provide better comparisons to the corresponding months in the very robust year of 2014.
