Downtown Sevierville is getting a new face so to speak. City leaders recently made the decision to renovate downtown. This is to promote the downtown area so that more tourists and locals alike will be inclined to visit Sevierville rather than passing it up to see attractions that are located in the neighboring areas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Local favorites such as the Dolly Parton statue are iconic to the area. However, that is not enough to attract the large number of tourists that is desired in the downtown region of Sevierville. Therefore, construction has already started to create new stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. Smoky Mountain area realtors in January had arguably one of the best starts to the year in a very long time! Residential units sold by month has had a 23% increase since January 2019! There were 41 more units sold this past month than this time last year which is impressive. Furthermore, as you can see in the chart below, five years ago the percentage increase was only 11% for the month of January. This has been an incredible month for the market and we are hoping this means for an abundance of sales in 2020! In fact, this is one of the best January stats I have seen since I started keeping track of Gatlinburg area residential sales in our area. Lots of market forecasts predicted a down market for Smoky Mountain real estate in 2020 but that certainly ISN'T the way that the new year has started. Years ago our market was significantly impacted by the economic crisis that occurred in 2008. However, the market thankfully started to look up around 2011. We are looking forward to working...
