The Rocky Top Sports World Complex is Ready to Rock!

For some time now we have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Rocky Top Sports World venue and our wait is over. While the ribbon cutting won't be until September 9th, the center will be hosting 95 soccer teams this weekend with over a thousand athletes who began pulling into the parking lot before 6AM this morning. Although the crowds would possibly make a better shot, I did get this aerial photo that I like yesterday morning:
With Rocky Top (Mt. LeConte) and a nice view of the National Park in the background, you can get an idea of just how big this new development is for the city of Gatlinburg and for Sevier County as a whole. If I had the time, I would love to get a picture of the center today with the parking lots full. For now, however, this will have to suffice as I have appointments and a LOT of emails to complete today. With a good number of tournaments already scheduled and many more in the works, there will be no shortage of upcoming events during which I hope to take an "occupied" pic!!
